Java Black

Gigantochloa atroviolacea

This is one of the most popular black bamboos. Java Black is a great feature plant showing off flat matt black poles with green stripes that hold their colour well. The internodes are white. Foliage has a tropical form. The timber is thick walled and this species is good for construction work. Java is fairly tight clumping and upright.
